44 AI Marketing Statistics for 2025

06/13/25

TL;DR Summary of AI Marketing Statistics and Trends in 2024

AI is revolutionizing marketing by reshaping search behavior, content creation, and brand visibility. Over 74% of new webpages feature AI-generated content, with marketers using AI to boost publishing frequency by 42%. AI Overviews dominate many search queries, significantly impacting click-through rates and traffic patterns. Brand mentions and off-site signals strongly influence AI visibility, while companies increasingly review AI content for accuracy before publishing.

Optimixed’s Overview: Key Insights on AI’s Impact on Marketing and SEO in 2024

AI’s Growing Role in Search and Content Marketing

Artificial intelligence is fundamentally changing how marketers create content and how brands appear in search results. AI Overviews now appear in over half of all Google searches by volume, especially on informational and longer queries, but reduce overall click-through rates by about 34.5%. Younger users tend to trust AI-generated answers more, while older searchers still prefer traditional links.

Content Creation and AI Usage Among Marketers

  • 87% of marketers use AI tools to assist with content creation, primarily for blog posts, brainstorming, and outlining.
  • ChatGPT leads as the most popular AI model, followed by Gemini and Claude, with 94 different AI tools cited.
  • Although AI helps increase monthly content output by 42%, 97% of companies still manually review AI-generated content to ensure accuracy.

Traffic Trends and Brand Signals

  • AI currently drives a small fraction (0.1%) of referral traffic, but influence is growing, with AI being a key traffic source especially for smaller sites.
  • Brand web mentions and branded search volumes correlate strongly with AI Overview visibility, far more than backlinks or paid ads.
  • Top brands receive up to 10 times more AI mentions than average, while 26% of brands have no AI Overview presence at all.

AI Bots and Website Responses

The number of AI bots crawling the web has doubled recently, with some like GPTBot being heavily blocked by websites. This signals a growing tension as websites adjust to AI-driven crawling and indexing.
