Google Updates Event and Recipe Structured Data Guidelines with New Examples and Clarifications
Event Structured Data Updates
Google has revised its event structured data documentation with several important changes:
- Added more examples distinguishing eligible and ineligible events for rich results.
- Removed the online event properties because events must now be bookable by the general public and held at a physical location to qualify for Google’s event experience.
- Multiple sections were updated or removed to reflect these new eligibility criteria.
Recipe Structured Data Clarifications
Updates to the recipe structured data help documentation include:
- Clarification that the image property in recipe markup does not affect the image chosen for text search results.
- This image property is used only for recipe rich results, not for the main text result image.
- Google recommends following image SEO best practices to optimize images for text search results.
These updates help webmasters better understand how to structure data for events and recipes to improve their visibility and eligibility in Google search results.
